Spring cleaning! You either love it or hate it! The best part of spring cleaning is opening the windows and letting the fresh air in! I read these 5 Spring Cleaning ideas recently.
I will clean out my desk drawer, and/or my sewing desk drawers. Maybe both! Having them organized and cleaned up will give me some energy.
Clean up that pile of scraps! I will either sort through it, keep what I want and donate the rest, or I will put it all in a box labeled Scraps, and store it elsewhere.
I will push the dark-colored fabric, the wintery kind of fabrics, back on the shelf, and pull forward the pretty spring and summer colors. Some brighter fabrics, some pastels, some neutrals; they will all give my room a new look instantly!
I will clean off my cutting table. It tends to accumulate ‘stuff’. That stuff needs to go live somewhere, but not on my cutting table. (Use a lint roller to pick up all the fabric dust and loose threads.)
Give the room a good sweep or vacuum, open the windows to let in some fresh air, hang a different quilt on the wall, and my sewing room is ready for a new season.
Yes, we do need to clean our sewing rooms at least once a year! Who knows what we might find – the bindings you put away in a safe place, that new pattern you didn’t keep with the fabric you bought, even that one piece of fabric you’ve been looking for!
While you’re at it, clean your irons, change the blades on your rotary cutters and have your machines checked out. And now you are READY!
Good News! We now have a punch card to reward you for your business at our shop. Every time you come into the store and spend over $10.00, we will punch your card. When you have all 10 punches, you will receive $10.00 off of your next purchase. We hope you enjoy this little extra from all of us here at Block Party Studios.
Need a new bag to take to shows and classes? Try our “Oh Sew Mod Tote” with TQRT panels. The pattern is by Susan Marsh at Whistlepig Creek Productions and we have modified it to use our 3 ½” “Things Quilters Really Think” Panels. Any of the panels will work – TQRT II, TQRT III, TQRT IV or TQRT V, just add a solid fabric to make the haringbone design for the outside. The pattern is $9.00, the panels are $8.00, and the kit retails for $52.75.
This just came in! “She Quilts, I Cook” hats! They are so fun, and would make quite a statement with our t-shirt and our apron! Well, Ok, just one at a time! Hats retail for $21.00. We have them on-line, in our shop, and will have them at the shows we are going to this summer! Can’t wait to see the first guy walk up with that hat on! I’ll be sure to take a picture, so you can all see!
Enjoy your Spring cleaning! Got to get it done, so you can plan your “All Iowa Shop Hop” trip in June!

Just wanted to say “Thank You” for your great products and your friendly service. I purchased the “What Cancer Cannot Do” panel at Paducah this past year and made a quilt for my aunt who is fighting this horrible disease. She loved it as do her visitors. Thanks again and keep up the great mission of spreading meaning and joy through your catchy and inspirational phrase blocks. :) -- Angie, Illinois
Love the “Comfort of Psalms” and scripture – especially those honoring the loss of a loved one, and those who are grieving the loss. Thank you. -- Lynn, California
