A Million sewing days.
Yellow Brick Road -
57” x
75” lap quilt (Beginner)
Date: Saturday, March 20, 10 am to 4pm
Instructor: Pat Petersen
Class Fee: $43.00 includes Terry Atkinson’s best-selling
Yellow Brick Road Pattern.
Store Opens 9 am for those who wish to purchase
class supplies (15% discount on any supplies required for
class.) Please be set up and ready to begin class promptly at
10 am.
Lunch on your own. We have fridge & microwave for your use
if you would like to “brown bag it”
This is National Quilting Day, and also the first
day of spring! What better day than this to enjoy the company
of other quilters? Learn the basics of strip piecing. Make it
with or without Block Party’s best selling Comfort of
Psalms fabric panel* (not included in class fee). This quilt
top is so easy and so fun, you’ll find yourself making
it again and again! Goal for the class is to oversee your completion
of cutting, strip piecing, and block
construction, and to have your project far enough along that
you can easily complete the top at home.
Materials needed - 12 coordinated fat quarters
plus two yards for outer border and binding; Comfort of
Psalms panel (optional), cutting mat, ruler, and rotary cutter;
sewing machine, thread, and basic sewing
supplies.
*Quilt may also be made with Block Party’s Words To Live
By Panel, or The Beatitudes Panel (new!)
Zippers Don’t Bite (Novice)
Date: Thursday, March 25, 7-9:30 pm
Instructor: Pat Petersen
Class Fee: $24 INCLUDES Terry Atkinson’s
newest pattern, “Cash & Carry” plus fusible
fleece required for class.
Learn this simple way to do zippers, and “zip
up” two cute, speedy, zipper pouches for glasses, credit
cards,
jewelry, sewing notions, coins --- you name it.

7 pm. We now sell dozens of colors of zippers!
Pattern is fat quarter friendly.
You can take pattern and your new skill home and
make thoughtful little gifts for all occasions!

cutting mat, ruler, and rotary cutter; sewing
machine, thread, and basic sewing supplies.
“March” To A
Million Days (Beginner)
Dates: Wednesday, March 24, 1:00 pm - 8:30 pm
and Wednesday, March 31, 1:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Assistant Editor of American Patchwork & Quilting, will be
here
6pm - 8:30 pm both days)
Fee: NO CHARGE TO ATTEND
Join us these two days in March to sew pillowcases
for American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine’s MILLION
PILLOWCASE CHALLENGE! Jeanne is cleaning out her private stash
to provide some fabric for this project. Plus
you can bring-your-own fabric, or buy here. 20% discount these
two days on any fabrics you buy to make
pillowcases for this challenge or for anything you’d like
to purchase as our “thanks” for stopping in to sew
for an
hour or two. We will have two extra sewing machines set up these
days, so you can come and join us if you
don’t own a machine, or don’t want to go to the trouble
of hauling it.
This nationwide project encourages quilters to
donate pillowcases to charities so that folks living in group
homes, homeless shelters, receiving medical treatments, or suffering
loss will have a colorful and fun
pillowcase to call their own.
Pillowcases produced by volunteers on these days
will be donated to Krysilis, a residential organization for
mentally impaired/disabled folks here in Nevada . A little bird
(Jody from APQ) told me that APQ not getting
enough pillowcases appropriate for MEN, so I asked Krysilis -
they have roughly half men and half women, and
a total of about 34 residents and clients coming for vocational
services. So - our goal is 34 pillowcases for
Krysilis...17 for men and 17 for women! If we can make enough
on March 24, I’ll designate another central
Iowa organization to receive the ones from the March 31 workday.
Come join in the fun, and take part in this
great way of giving back to the community. We will post our total
number donated on APQ’s Million Pillowcase
Challenge web page.

Dates: Thursday, April 22 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Class Fee: $28 includes Casserole Kimono Patern
Just in time for spring wedding season, join our
class to make a great wedding gift idea! Bring your own
fabrics or purchase our kit for $22.00. Kimono is great for carrying
hot or cold 9 x 13 dish and makes a
colorful, creative gift!

Table Toppers
101 (Beginner)
Dates: Saturday, March 27, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
OR Saturday, April 10, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Class Fee: $22.00 INCLUDES your choice of fabric for 42” square
table topper (the 15% discount for class
supplies is factored into fee)
Table toppers make fast, fun, easy, and inexpensive
home decorating projects! Finish one in a couple of
hours (there’s no quilting required), and you’ll
be inspired to make one for every season and ever y occasion
for entertaining. You’ll learn an easy way of making perfect
mitered corners, and a fool-proof way of doing
good looking hems.
Store opens at 10 am, so please select fabric,
set up, and be ready to sew at 11 am.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:
REGISTRATION
You will be enrolled in class after we have received
full paymentof your class fee. Sorry, we will not hold
space without prepayment. You may register for classes in person
or by phone, 1-800-419-2812, with a credit card.
PREPARATION
Please arrive early to set up your machine and
be ready to start class promptly at 7 pm. You are welcome
to arrive any time after 6pm to set up, sew, or shop.
SUPPLIES
Bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies.
We will provide cutting space and ironing
boards/irons. A supply list for your specific class will be available
after registration. If you need to purchase
class supplies, we ask that you purchase them from us. We offer
15% off class supplies during class time only.
CANCELLATIONS
Refunds will be given on cancellations made 7 business
days prior to the first class. (Cancellations for
Monday classes will be accepted until the close of business on
the PRECEEDING Monday, and so forth) If
you cancel less than 7 days prior, you are entitled to the class
materials included in fees, and you may pick
them up within 14 days. After that time, we cannot guarantee
availability of class materials. Sorry, no
refunds are available for cancellations after the start of a
class.
WEATHER CLOSINGS
In case of severe winter weather, please call to
verify whether class is being held. As a rule of thumb, if
there is no school at local public school, there is no class.
A make-up date will be scheduled.
MINIMUM ENROLLMENT
Classes may be cancelled if enrollment is less
than four people. If we are forced to cancel classes due to
low enrollment, you may reschedule into a different class or
receive a full refund.
CHILDREN
As a courtesy to other students, please do not
bring children or other non-paying guests to class.
SKILL REQUIRED
Beginner - These classes are for those who have never sewn or
used basic sewing tools.
Novice - These classes are for beginners who already know how
to use basic sewing tools.
Intermediate - These classes are for quilters who have mastered
basic tools and basic machine piecing,
such as strip piecing, making half square triangles, and basic
block making.
Advanced - These classes are for quilters who would like to acquire
specific new skill beyond the basics.
